General Description:
The AS460 AVR for UJLA generators is a phase-controlled thyristor type AVR integral to the excitation system of a brushless generator. Utilizing advanced Surface Mount Technology (SMT), it incorporates a wide range of features within a compact and efficient design.
The AVR ensures reliable voltage build-up from residual levels through the use of high-efficiency semiconductors in its power circuit. The power and voltage sensing circuits have independent terminals, allowing excitation power to be sourced directly from the stator winding for standard applications, or from an auxiliary winding when sustained short circuit performance is required.
Connected to the main stator windings and the exciter field windings, the AVR offers closed-loop control of the output voltage, maintaining load regulation within +/- 1.0%. The voltage sensing terminals of the AVR continuously monitor the output windings, regulating voltage in response to load, speed, temperature, and power factor changes, ensuring consistent generator performance.
Additionally, the AVR includes a frequency measuring circuit that monitors generator output, offering under-speed protection by reducing output voltage proportionally when speed falls below a pre-set threshold. The under frequency roll-off point (UFRO) is field-adjustable to 50 or 60 Hz via a simple push-on link.
The AVR is equipped with a protection circuit that manages over-excitation conditions, ensuring safe operation. It also allows for the connection of a remote voltage trimmer, enabling fine-tuning of the generator’s output. The AVR supports analogue input for integration with Power Factor controllers or other compatible external devices and includes provisions for droop CT connection, facilitating parallel operation with other generator.
